Silver Crown, Joined Palms

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This fully gilded bodhisattva sits in full lotus with palms pressed together. On a double lotus pedestal, hands joined at the chest and eyes lowered, the figure wears a tall crown of silver openwork, its gold orb at the crest — a cool note against all the warm gold. The chest ornament, armlets and ear pendants repeat that silvery white, fine beaded strands standing out crisply on the golden robe. Behind, a great leaf-shaped aureole is carved all over with vertical flowing lines, groove upon groove rising like water or flame, steadying the seated pose. The lotus petals are plump and full above an octagonal plinth banded with a single scroll pattern. Gold everywhere, silver at the crown, stillness in the joined hands — a piece for a shrine, or for an entryway or tea-room corner where calm should greet you first.
