Attendant in Held Moonlight

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This standing bodhisattva in a silver-grey finish stands on a double-layered lotus base, the right-hand partner to its twin. The hair rises into a tall, tower-like spiral bun; the eyes are lowered in quiet, and the body turns very slightly, as if attending toward a central figure. The left hand is raised at the chest, fingertips pinching something slender; the right hangs at the side, holding a long sash that falls to the edge of the lotus base. A fine beaded necklace crosses the chest; robes layer down from the shoulders, a belt at the waist, cloth draping in an arc before the belly with a small net-patterned pendant at its centre. Bare feet stand on the full lotus petals, the skirt's folds gathered neatly. Cool and lustrous as moonlight held still, it answers its partner across the centre — made to complete a triad with a central figure and its left-hand twin, or to stand alone in a niche or on an altar table, lending a corner its refinement.
