Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This seated figure is golden from crown to base. A tall crown of layered golden leaves rises above a pale face with long earlobes; the eyes are lowered, the hands pressed together at the chest, holding a small golden ritual implement between the fingers, and the legs are folded in full lotus on an open golden lotus. The golden robe falls in smooth folds from shoulders to knees, its collar and cuffs edged with fine patterning and small coloured stones, the gold glowing without glare. Below stands a rectangular golden altar pedestal divided into three panels, each carved with a dharma wheel and linked by scrolling stems, with a beaded border at its top and foot. Modest in size yet weighty in presence, the piece feels like the principal icon of a miniature golden shrine — upright and eye-catching at the centre of a niche, and on a desk, a quiet nobility that never raises its voice.
