This golden seated Buddha is the left-hand figure of a set of three, backed by a towering aureole. He wears a gem-set crown over black hair, his pale face lowered in a serene smile, both hands resting in the meditation seal at his lap, cradling a golden object, his legs folded in full lotus on a tiered golden lotus throne. His robe, vermilion red patterned with slate-blue floral roundels, glows against the surrounding gold and lends the figure a rich, settled calm. Behind him the aureole rises high: golden flames lick upward from its rim to a sharp point, while within, relief dragons coil through rolling clouds in carving so dense it leaves no empty space. Beneath the throne stands an octagonal pedestal guarded by beast-heads at its corners, wrapped in layers of scrolling lotus. Radiant yet never restless, the figure holds a solemnity of its own — enshrined beside a shrine's principal seat, or displayed with its two companions as a set, it commands the room.
