A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This polychrome figure in imperial dress sits enthroned on a tall orange-red dragon throne. He wears the beaded ceremonial crown, its hanging strands of pearls half-veiling his face; a three-part beard falls to his chest, his eyes are gently closed, and both hands are folded at his breast around a small red object. The bright yellow dragon robe layers red-lined wide sleeves over white inner sleeves, two grey-blue dragons coiling at the knees, long sash cords hanging at the waist, and red upturned shoes patterned in gold on his feet. The throne's back and arms are carved all over with golden dragons and drifting clouds, dragon heads rearing at the posts, red tassels hanging at either side, its screen panel backed with cloud motifs on yellow. The square plinth below is set with turquoise-green studs, a scrollwork apron and a beast mask at its centre. The colours are intense yet ordered, and the dignity is unmistakable — made for the principal seat of a hall, or to anchor a room as a commanding centrepiece.
