This standing guardian is finished entirely in gold. He wears a jewelled high crown, eyes wide in a glare, his beard curled, his body clad in scale armour beneath a beast-faced breastplate; both hands grip a long sword held diagonally across his front, its point aimed at the ground. Behind him a round halo burns with a rim of flames, and long ribbons loop from his arms in great curves through the air, joining the swirling hems to fill the figure with motion. Below, a base of layered golden cloud-heads; across the armour, fine scales, scrollwork and small coloured stones glint within the gold. Fierce yet never stiff — a presence for an entryway or the front of a hall, anywhere a space needs a commanding guard, and equally fine placed as one of a pair.
