Black and Gold with a White Lotus

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This front-facing standing Buddha in a golden-toned finish divides black and gold with complete clarity. Face and chest are deep black and gleaming; the topknot and feet are a mellow gold. He wears a grey-brown robe edged with one broad band of gold from collar to hem, its folds falling in shallow arcs across the belly. One hand stands at his chest, palm forward, the golden palm especially striking; the other holds a pure white lotus at his side, the white startlingly clean against the black and gold. His feet rest on a pedestal of layered lotus petals, its rim traced with small gold beads. His expression is lowered and serene — solemn without a sound. A figure for a shrine, or for an entrance hall where it quiets the room the moment you step in.
