A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This polychrome standing bodhisattva wears a jewelled crown. His golden face is lowered in a gentle smile, long hair falling past his shoulders, and his wide robe is a deep teal verging on black, its borders traced in gold thread with fine scrollwork over a green lining, beaded ornaments resting on his chest. One hand lifts a white lotus in full bloom before him; the other hangs at his side, lightly holding the end of a sash. The drapery falls in layered folds that settle into slow waves at his feet, which stand on a great lotus pedestal of red and gold. The dark robe sets off the golden face and the white bloom, lending the figure a quiet, stately purity — made for a shrine niche, or for the corner of a hall where its calm grandeur can hold the space.
