A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This child attendant is finished throughout in one bright vermilion red. A single small tuft crowns his otherwise bare head; his round face is cheerful, eyes lowered, and both palms are pressed firmly together at his chest in earnest greeting. He wears a crossed-collar tunic cinched by a wide sash tied in a bow at the front, its ends hanging over layered skirts and loose trousers gathered at the ankle, a band around each calf, and bare feet on a double lotus pedestal. Long ribbons circle behind his shoulders in two symmetrical loops and trail down to curl like leaves beside the base, which is carved as rugged rock beneath the lotus. Plump, lively and sincere, he suits service beside a principal image in a shrine, or a study or entryway corner, where he adds a touch of innocence and devotion.
