This polychrome seated Buddha in an orange robe rests in meditation, hands folded in the lap. The hands lie one over the other, palms upward at the belly, and the legs are crossed in full lotus. The face and hands are gold; blue curled hair carries a red jewel, with a red mark between the brows. The orange-red robe is crossed by a soft green panel over the left shoulder, tied with a small bow on the patterned chest band. Behind the figure, a throne-like aureole of teal scrollwork rises to a pointed crest flecked with red flame dots. The lotus seat layers red and teal petals over an octagonal base, a small golden beast crouched at its front centre. Bright in colour yet entirely still, the figure suits a shrine or meditation room, or the corner of a desk where it keeps company while the mind slowly gathers itself.
