A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This polychrome standing figure is ringed by a halo of white flame. His hair is bound in two high knots with a golden ornament; a small urna marks his brow, a light moustache touches his lip, and he stands with lowered eyes, his expression youthful. Right hand open at his waist, the left raised upright before his chest. His dress is layered — an orange-yellow robe, a rust-red gown, a deep blue sash and a yellow-green skirt — the colours sober where they cross, the folds falling naturally. The halo behind him is the soul of the piece: flames and clouds in white and blue-grey swirl around a disc of pale gold, holding him steady at the centre. Below, a craggy grey rock base — stillness underfoot, fire curling above. A figure for devotion, or for an entryway, study or tea room — clear, quiet austerity for any space.
