XM26-0195 / Wood tone · Altar set

One Buddha, Two Disciples

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This wood-toned altar set presents a Buddha flanked by two disciples, composed to be placed as one. The central Buddha sits in full lotus on a great lotus throne, both hands cradling a small golden object in his lap, a swastika at his chest, his expression turned calmly inward. Behind him the aureole rises high, its flame-edged border gathering to a point around inner carvings of foliage and winding dragons. Beneath the throne stands a panelled altar cabinet carved with a dharma wheel and lotus motifs — a complete piece of furniture in itself. The two disciples stand with palms joined, one youthful and one aged, their robes worked plainly and richly by turns, each on a lotus pedestal with a hexagonal stand. One warm wood tone unites the set from a distance, while each figure keeps its own character up close — made for enshrining whole, or for placing as a complete altar arrangement.
