A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This seated bodhisattva in a deep wood tone holds a golden lotus stem. A tall lotus-petal crown rises above blue hair falling to the shoulders; his eyes are lowered, a fine moustache traces his upper lip, and he sits in full lotus on a double lotus throne. Behind him, a pointed aureole is carved all over with curling flame patterns and fine radiating lines. His right hand rests before his knee, palm turned upward, while the left lightly holds a long golden stem whose lotus bloom cradles a tiny golden pagoda. A golden necklace hangs at his chest, and the robe falls from his shoulders in layers, settling into unhurried folds across his legs. The throne's petals are crisply defined, above a wooden seat carved with lotus motifs. The whole piece is a deep, mellow reddish-brown wood tone, gold kept only for the necklace and the lotus stem — light showing through the dark. It suits a shrine, or a tea room or quiet chamber: composed, and full of weight.
