Lotus beneath the Pointed Arch

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This golden standing bodhisattva is backed by a tall pointed-arch aureole. The figure wears a jewelled high crown with a round head-halo behind, eyes lowered in a soft smile, long ears reaching the shoulders. One hand hangs at the side, lightly holding the lower end of a lotus stem; the other lifts the stem diagonally across the body, a single bud rising beside the shoulder. The gold robe clings and falls in straight, fluent folds, and beaded ornaments set with small turquoise and red stones layer down the chest and belly. The aureole's rim gathers into flame tips around dense scrolling foliage and floral medallions. Below, a plump double lotus pedestal meets a round base. Richness in the aureole, restraint in the robe — the contrast makes the stance taller and calmer. A commanding piece for the main position of a shrine or a hall.
