Leaping through Clouds

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This fully golden auspicious beast is caught mid-leap. It has a dragon's head with antlers, long whiskers curling from its jaws, a body covered in fine scales, and mane and spine worked into backward-sweeping flame scrolls. All four hooves are off the ground; a front hoof reaches high to touch a flaming pearl above, while the long tail loops behind in one fluent arc, as if the creature had just sprung from the clouds. Beneath its belly a small cub leans out in answer, head raised. The upper base is a swirl of clouds and waves; below sits a broad rectangular plinth carved with lotus and ruyi cloud motifs and finished with a beaded border. Brilliant gold, powerful motion held steady — a piece for a hall, an entryway or a desk, bringing a rising, upward energy to the space, and equally at home in a collection.
