Eyes Lowered on the Lotus

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This standing bodhisattva in gold tones rests on a double lotus pedestal. A pale cloth veil covers the head, a small golden seated figure set into its front, while the face keeps a soft pinkish flesh tone, eyes lowered in a gentle, kindly expression. One hand rises palm-outward before the chest; the other lies across the belly, lightly pinching a small object. An orange-gold robe falls from the shoulders beneath a cream-white mantle that layers down to the feet, and gold beaded ornaments set with small green and red stones hang across the chest and skirts, their tassels reaching the hem. The lotus petals are plump and orange, the base finished with a band of wave scrolls. Bright yet never glaring, the figure is dignified and approachable at once — made for a shrine, or for the principal position in a hall.
