A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This polychrome bodhisattva sits at ease on an enormous golden lotus, one knee raised and the other leg folded, in the relaxed pose of quiet thought. A jewelled crown holds a small image; the head tilts slightly as one main hand rises to the cheek, as if a thought had just settled, while another hand lifts a lotus stem whose bloom opens beside the shoulder. Further arms present a small pagoda and a precious vessel. Pale blue gauze crosses the shoulders, a teal skirt wraps the legs, and beaded chains set with red and green stones fall from chest to knees. Behind, a round aureole opens in rings of violet, gold and teal beneath a full circle of orange-red flame dotted with golden blossoms. The throne below hangs with tassels and ornaments over an octagonal carved base. Splendid yet contemplative — a piece for enshrining, for a tea room corner, or anywhere a gaze should come to rest.
