Branch and Vase

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This copper-toned standing bodhisattva turns slightly as she lifts a leafy branch. Her crown is drawn high, her gaze lowered in a soft smile, and she stands on a double lotus pedestal — one hand raised, offering a slender branch of fresh leaves, while a slim-necked vase rests against her side. Bead chains and ornaments trail down the layered skirt to her feet, and a long sash pours along her body to curl in a smooth arc beside the pedestal. Gold-copper skin and deep brown drapery set each other off, giving the figure a warmth touched with living green. Gracious and quietly fresh, she suits a shrine or a bright place in a living room, where she brings the calm of foliage indoors.
