The Armoured Guardian

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This copper-toned standing guardian wears full armour and a wrathful scowl. His hair sweeps back like flames, dark red ribbons streaming around his head and body; his eyes glare, his teeth bare. The armour is carved in dense detail — beast heads gaping at the shoulders, beast-faced medallions on the chest, layer upon layer of patterned plates. His belly rounds out beneath the breastplate, which far from softening him only adds to his weight of presence. One arm thrusts forward, fingers spread like claws; the other grips a tall halberd upright, its blade pointing at the sky. His feet stand among struggling imps and beast forms at the plinth, cloud scrolls curling around them. Gold above, deep copper below — a study in contrast. Set beside a doorway or at the entrance of a space, he delivers a measure of awe before anything else: a hard, room-guarding presence.
