A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This copper-toned seated monk holds a tall ringed staff upright in his right hand and a flaming jewel in his left, seated in full lotus on stacked tiers of lotus. Shaven-headed with long earlobes, his eyes rest nearly closed and a faint, almost-smile lingers at his lips. His skin is a warm copper-gold, but the robe that falls from his shoulders is silver-grey from top to hem, its folds sweeping over the knees in deep arcs — a striking two-tone contrast against the golden face, hands and feet. Beneath him the lotus pedestal stacks in two layers: great plump petals above, a lower tier spreading wide below, all on a hexagonal plinth carved with scrolling lotus vines. Quiet and kindly in its solemnity, the figure suits the principal place of a shrine, keeping company with morning and evening incense.
