A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This polychrome seated Buddha wears a robe of deep, brilliant red. He sits in full lotus on a golden lotus throne, the glossy robe — its folds picked out in gilt — falling from his shoulders to spread across the front of the seat. His face and hands are bright gold under dark blue curls and a reddish topknot. The right hand hangs down beside his knee, fingertips pointing to the ground, while the left rests open before his belly, a golden lotus petal lying in the palm. Behind him the golden halo swells in a scalloped outline, its layered relief catching the light. With its bowed head and faint smile the figure feels both vivid and restful — the red robe striking yet never loud: a settled presence for the middle of a shrine or the centre of a room.
