Golden, Hands in Seal

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This small seated Buddha is gold from head to foot. He sits in full lotus on a red pedestal: a vermilion tray base carved with wave patterns, lifting a golden lotus with opened petals, and above it the crossed feet and falling hem of his robe. The robe crosses his left shoulder and sweeps down in fine folds, the gilded surface smooth and bright. Dark curls gather into a low topknot, the face bows slightly with a quiet expression, and both hands meet at his chest in a neat seal, fingertips joined. Red set against gold, the figure is solemn yet cheerful, and its modest scale is made for a niche altar — or for a desk or bookshelf corner, where it can be met with daily.
