A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This wood-toned seated figure wears its hair in two topknots side by side, with a single dot of cinnabar red between the brows — one bright note within all its gentleness. The eyes are lowered and closed. The right hand hangs down from the knee, fingertips pointing naturally earthward, as if it had just set something gently aside; the left hand is raised a little at the chest, a small object pinched between its fingers — one hand lowered, one lifted, answering each other. The robe falls from the shoulders, fastened by a cloud-scroll clasp, its folds crossing the belly in layers and spreading over the seated legs in even arcs. The whole piece is honey-toned warm wood above a ring of downward-opening lotus petals. Beside its raised-palm companion, this one carries more restraint and consideration; placed in a tea room, a study or at the side of a shrine, it accompanies one in slowly setting the heart down — as fitting for daily company and display as for devotion and collecting.
