A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This wood-toned seated Buddha is distinguished from its twin-topknotted companions by a full head of snail-curl hair, each curl cleanly modelled. A red jewel sits between the brows, the eyes are lowered and closed in a composed face, and a swastika is set squarely on the chest. Both hands rest one over the other in the lap, palms upward, settling the figure into meditation; the robe falls from the shoulders, and across the chest and belly its folds draw into ring upon ring of concentric arcs, like ripples spreading slowly before coming to rest smooth over the knees. The whole surface is warm wood, honeyed where the light lands and quiet in the shade, above a ring of downward-opening lotus petals. There is no superfluous movement anywhere — the posture itself spells stillness. Enshrined in an altar room or a quiet chamber, it makes a corner where the mind can settle; on a study desk, it is a wood-toned collectible of pure and lasting character.
