A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This small seated Buddha holds an alms bowl in both hands before his belly, fingertips resting lightly on its rim — as if, the day's begging round done, he had simply sat down in quiet. Each snail curl is clearly modelled, the eyes are half closed and lowered, and the mouth carries a barely perceptible smile. Mottled gold and deep brown alternate over the whole surface, the light warm where it catches and sinking where it does not. The robe's folds fall from the shoulders and spread over the knees in layered arcs, the hem gathered into a wavy edge above a low, plain base. Small in scale but complete in presence, it turns everything inward where its raised-palm companion speaks outward. Place it in a study, a tea room or a small shrine and sit with it a moment each day; it is a modest piece that rewards devotion and collecting alike.
