A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This polychrome bodhisattva stands tall and complete from crown to foot. A golden hood-like crown with a small Buddha set into it frames her lowered gaze; her right hand hangs at her side holding a rolled scroll, while the left is raised at the chest, palm outward. The dress comes in layers: a grey-blue inner robe patterned with scrolling vines, an orange-yellow mantle over it, and a vermilion skirt below, all worked with gold-outlined roundels, a dark knotted sash at the waist and ornaments falling to the belly. Beneath her feet there is no lotus throne but a mass of violet-grey cloud, curling up to carry her. Restrained splendour and a clean silhouette — made for solitary enshrinement, or to stand in quiet watch over a corner of a room.
