A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This wood-toned Buddha sits in full lotus upon a towering, many-petalled lotus throne. The head bows slightly over tightly curled hair, the eyes are lowered, and a swastika marks the chest. Both hands rest in the lap in the meditation mudra, cradling a small alms bowl, while the robe slips from the left shoulder and spreads across the knees in slow, even folds. Behind the figure rises a tall pierced aureole of interlaced flames and vines, holding seven small seated Buddhas that echo the main figure's pose. A leaf tray and carved round base finish the piece below, all in a mellow honey-brown. Quiet and inward, it is made for a shrine, or for a meditation room where it settles the eye at once.
