Palms Joined, Sword Across

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This wood-toned armoured guardian stands on a rock base, pale honey in colour throughout. His eyes are wide and his expression formidable, a flame-patterned ring of light circling above his ornate crown. His palms are pressed together at his chest, and a long sword lies horizontally across his forearms, its blade broad and straight, its pommel a round ball. He wears scale armour with a glaring beast face at the centre of the breastplate, and finely patterned belt and greaves; two long sashes wind out from his shoulders and back, coiling in round arcs at his sides and feet onto the rock. Palms joined and sword laid across together — majesty carrying reverence within it — he is made to stand guard beside a shrine door, or to hold his ground as a display at the entrance of a space.
