A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record
This seated Buddha in wood tones rests his hands folded in his lap, a great pointed-arch aureole behind him. In full lotus, with curled hair, lowered brows and the calm of deep meditation, he bears a swastika squarely at his chest. The folded hands are the quietest point of the whole piece — the more elaborate everything around them grows, the simpler they stay. Below, the lotus throne spreads in layers with a cloth-patterned edge, and beneath it a square pedestal descends in tiers of petal bands and vine scrolls to small beast feet. The aureole opens outward from a round head-halo: rows of small Buddhas seated among cloud and flame patterning, one more in the niche at the top, the lines gathering finally to a point. The tone is a reddish warm wood. All that carved richness sets off one simple seated figure, like a still point inside a busy world. For a shrine, a study or a quiet room — sit across from it daily, and the mind settles of itself.
