Standing with Drawn Sword

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This standing guardian in warm wood tones holds a long sword diagonally across his body. Crowned and short-bearded, his brows are knitted and his gaze fixed straight ahead — authority that needs no anger to be felt. Heavy armour covers him: a beast-head emblem on the chest, shoulder guards and a war-skirt dense with fine scales, a bound sash at the waist, and robe-hems and long ribbons rolling at his legs into the same movement as the clouds below. The sword cuts from lower right to upper left, its pale bright blade drawing one clean line of light through all that warm wood, his left hand half-closed beside it in readiness. His feet stand on a base of swirling auspicious clouds. He takes his stance without flourish — one sword and one pair of eyes are enough to settle a room. He suits a guardian's place in a shrine, or the entrance of any space that needs presence: steady, and impossible to ignore.
