The Flute-Playing Apsara

Viewing notes

A viewer's written impression — not a buyer review or first-hand record

This colorful sculpture depicts a celestial apsara playing the transverse flute. Long teal ribbons spiral around her like music made visible, echoing the flowing lines of the Dunhuang flying deities. She wears a floral crown, a turquoise patterned bodice and a gold-orange skirt, her bare feet resting lightly on pastel clouds. The base is alive with carved waves, two leaping koi, a blooming lotus and a pair of white ducks — heaven and earth in a single joyful composition. Vividly colored yet serene in expression, it is a piece that brings grace, harmony and quiet celebration to any space.
